I began seeing a counsellor in my teens to address stress and self-esteem issues, and I found the experience to be empowering and a great support as I learned how to develop coping skills. Throughout my adult life I have sought counselling for a variety of reasons, such as dealing with grief and relationship issues, and I started this blog to share my personal experiences with using this form of talking therapy to grow as an individual and move past difficult life experiences in a healthy way. I also share my tips for selecting a counsellor, communicating effectively with your counsellor and identifying what you want to achieve from counselling. My hope is that this blog will be useful to those considering seeing a counsellor for the first time..
